The Street Borrow Cake
Make an oblong-shaped 225 g fruit cake and cover it with 680 g chocolate fondant icing. Draw the back of a
knife along the sides of the cake to give the effect
needed for the barrow sides. While this icing is drying, make a base for the
cake from a piece of thin ply wood and attach two toy wheels.
Cover two pieces of wooden meat skewer with some of the left-over chocolate
fondant icing for the handles, and use some thin dowel sticks for the awning
support of the barrow and the legs. Cardboard and colored papers are suitable
for awning top.
Assemble the cake on the base board fill with the fruit and vegetables and top
with the awning. For the final finish, use a toothpick with cards bearing the
price tags.
